The Rain Campaign
What is the Rain Campaign?
The Rain Campaign is a localized effort across the Des Moines Metro to enable you to be a part of the solution towards better managing stormwater runoff to improve local water quality through the utilization of municipal cost-share programs.
What’s the problem?
Like an umbrella, our built environment sheds water instead of allowing it to naturally soak into the ground leading to flooding and water quality problems across the Des Moines metro and other urban areas in Iowa.
Why your home matters.
Residential areas makes up a large portion of our community. By more effectively managing water in these areas, we can make a positive difference for our local watersheds decreasing flash flooding and improving water quality.
Whats the solution?
By utilizing rainscaping & stormwater best practices you can help us make our community less like an umbrella and more like a sponge to let water naturally soak into the ground preventing flooding and protecting water quality.
What can I do at home?
You can be a part of local water quality improvements by implementing rainscaping & stormwater best practices at your home like,
Rain Barrels
Soil Quality Restoration
Rain Garden
Permeable Pavement
Native Landscaping
Downspout Redirect
